ERA Update
March is Women's History Month! Here's an update from HDTC member Laura Rainsford on the most recent happenings related to the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA).
- The House and the Senate have introduced new joint resolutions affirming the validity of the ERA (HJ Res 25 and SJ Res 4). Sponsors include Senators Cardin and Murkowski and Representatives Pressley, Bush, Spanberger, Dean, Garcia, and Kamlager-Dove.
- The Senate Judiciary committee will hold a hearing on February 28, 2023. A live stream is available on the ERA Coalition's Facebook and YouTube pages.
- The ERA Coalition has published 6 Ways You Can Fight for Equality in 2023. Check it out for some great, doable ideas.
- There will be an ERA Symposium sponsored by the Alice Paul Institute on 3/24/23. Virtual tickets are available for the LiveStream. One of the speakers, Kate Kelly, has a fascinating new book, Ordinary Equality: The Fearless Women and Queer People Who Shaped the U.S. Constitution and the Equal Rights Amendment.
