2023 Democratic State Convention

HDTC Represents!

Members of the Holliston Democratic Town Committee were out in full force on Saturday, September 23, as they joined fellow Democrats from across Massachusetts at the Democratic State Committee Convention. The Convention, held annually, serves as a platform for Democrats to come together, discuss party priorities, and hear from influential leaders. This year, attendees were treated to a lineup of inspiring speeches by prominent figures, including Senator Elizabeth Warren, Representative Ed Markey, Governor Maura Healy, and our own Senate President Karen Spilka. Their passionate words resonated with the audience, reminding everyone of the values and principles that unite Democrats in the Bay State.

Several amendments to the state party charter were passed during the convention. One significant change makes veterans eligible for add-on delegate status, recognizing the unique challenges they face and perspectives they bring to the Party. Additionally, an amendment was passed to prohibit members of the Democratic State Committee from also being paid employees, ensuring transparency and accountability. These amendments, along with the convention itself, reflect the dedication of Massachusetts Democrats to create a more inclusive and effective political environment where the voices of all members can be heard and valued.

With the 2024 elections just around the corner, Democrats at the local level need to start organizing now to continue our nation's recovery and progress. Join us at our next meeting on Saturday, October 14 at 10 AM, in person at Town Hall or virtually on Zoom. All are welcome--you need not be a member of the Holliston Democratic Town Committee to attend!
